I don't know of anyone having problems with the storms spinning up out of corners, which to my mind makes stickier stuff pointless. But there are plenty people have bad nerves when their sticky sports tyres are twitching in the wet!

There are other sorts of tear too, relating to the suspension causing these tiny slides and giving it a hard time.
Hot tear would be just temperature related, you can get compression tear rebound tear and spring tear too. Just to boggle the brain ![]() Ive been playing around, I'm sure I'll get my head around it soon enough lol.

I have not been able to tell with storms. With supercorsa it was really obvious rebound tear, I tightened rebound and it cleaned up.
You have fancy maxton suspendies but how old is oil?

Maxton shock and revalved / oiled forks both about 10K miles or 15 months old. I'll do the fork oil at next service after the GM most likely. I am thinking of having the shock serviced by Maxton over winter.

10k miles is getting towards end of the oils life then, even if it is high quality full synth.
Make sure you find out from maxton what grade to use as if you use different viscosity you will change the working range of your adjusters.

VFR front forks have no adjusters, only pre-load. They put in Putoline 5W fully synth and make it clear in their docs to use this. I would use the same as them whatever, as I have learned that not all fork oils are created equal.
The rear shock is serviceable, but as they are quite handy they can do it.

So the low speed damping is taken care of by fixed bleed holes in the fork pistons. You will probably notice a nice improvement in brake dive and stability in corner when you change it

I inherited the Raptor with a very good set of Vipers on it. It was blatently obvious that they would go for a good few miles, even tread throughout, plenty of it....or so I thought.
Within 200 miles the centre of the rear has gone from massive to the markers. Not impressed with either Peg or the tyres. Certainly no good for every day riding, with a little fun along the way. Looks like the Avon Ultras will be going on it as soon as I get back on a bike! I need a tyre that will stand upto the tyremuncher. Raptors aren't exactly kind on tyres as it is, a lot of owners have problems getting good mileage out of any sort of tyre, widely documented on the forum. At least I know from reviews from on this forum from people like LP and Rictus, that have tyre munching bikes, and ride pretty spirited, that I'm pretty much garanteed to be happy, and spend less on rubber in the long run. Neither do I want another sticky tyre as wet conditions and Raptor on them, ain't going to be pretty!
