So, how does this seem for a deal then? http://www.ghostbikes.com/products/1...descriptiontab

About right? Not sure how much use I'll get out of any of it, but I'll need to get stuff to the ARTNW/NTRN in april, and possibly a Scotland trip from another forum.

I did a week-away on the GPZ with a top box, but everything else was just under a cargo-net and I didn't really like the feeling that stuff might fly off.

Would you go for this, or the Lifetime stuff?

Personally the life time. When I was mooching about the first time stufff wasn't as rigid and seemed a bit floppy to me.

I felt the same. It's ok for the newbie and will last a while if used occasionally, but the Lifetime stuff is far better quality and has far more features for not a great deal more outlay. I've also had four things replaced under the lifetime warranty with no questions asked, which would have meant buying new if they were 1st Time items.

My panniers and tankbag were originally Sovereign Lifetime items that had zips fail over time. I bought them used in 1997 and they were replaced in more recent years with the newer Sports stuff under warranty. I got my Sports tailpack for free when someone delivered too much to the shop I was working at, and Oxford said not to worry and to keep it... so it went home with me. I only paid a tenner each for the used tankbag and panniers, so I don't think I did too bad getting a full set of brand new Sports luggage for 20 quid.
