When I was 19 I got a XJ900 with my first husband (1990 ish) rode pillion and loved it, but in hindsight he was way too sensible! He then bought me an MX50 (i think) to get on the road for me to learn on. But things went wrong, he got controlling, and refused to repair it so I couldnt ride it, ******!
It was 18 years and several partners later that I met Jeff who'd just got back into biking after 20 years and bought me a GN125 for xmas and paid for my DAS and SV. Gotta love him for that ![]() |

Anything happen to your foot??
![]() As a young kid I used to LOVE bikes, my mum tells me all I ever wanted was "A ikkle green motorbike", I even remember the cake from my fourth birthday party (which was at the Village Squash club in Sedgley Park if you know Manchester) was a little green motorbike. But then as I started getting older I thought motorbikes were for rich, good looking James Bond types and I'd never get one so that all fizzled away, how wrong was I... I remember my first time, twas a sunny day approx 40 degrees C in April 2003, in Thailand. I was so EXCITED that I could get on a bike. My mate had hired a Honda Shadow 600cc and took me out of town, I was cacking myself but REALLY excited, then he pulled over, pointed out the clutch, throttle, gears and brakes and I pottered around a little housing complex for about 5 mins. Then on to the road for another 20 mins then we went back cos it was too hot and we had some partying to do. Next day we went and got a CBR400 Babyblade and he rode to a less busy street where I got back on and went up and down the road to get used to the controls and when I said I was happy he pee'd off to go for a beer and I went out around the town for a bit. I got back to where we were staying, and parked it up. I took it out later (or the next day, I can't remember) for 'a spin around the block', and came back four hours later. BIG mistake, I got badly sunburnt but it was worth it. ![]() I got back saved up and did my DAS in October that year and spent the next two years working like a sod to pay off debts, then sell my car so that I could buy my first bike in September 2005, the Thundercat And here is a pic of me and my new bike 2 and half years after my first experience when I picked up my first bike and got to my mates house, the same mate who showed me how to ride a bike. ![]() And here's what the funny sods at work did to my leathers when I went out on lunch ![]()

My first time was on a puch magnum 50 on a local playing field, got a bit boring tho when after every ride, got it back to my uncles garage and the points had burned out, i was probably about 8 ish at the time but i thought it was the coolest'est thing ever. never rode anything since that untill i was 16 and got an aerox 50 rossi replica (Blue, not yellow)

Mine was fairly boring when a mate let me have a go on his moped. God the power and acceleration was amazing.
However my wife one was far more exciting. At 54 I talked her into having a go (she had been a car driver for 37 years and thought all biker were nuts). Went for her basic training and when they went out onto the road, she lost control and accelated across the road and smashed into the wall. Both bike and biker slightly bent, but not seriously, fortunately. She had more luck with twist and go (although she did master gear bikes a year later). Anyway she is now the very proud owner of a Honda DN01 and really loves her bike. |
