Yea, I'm generally a very neat and tidy person so I've already had a lot of thoughts on how to make it as tidy and neat as possible. can someone just confirm the following for me please? I don't want to go and bust the electrics on my first try: I got my 12v socket, now to get twin power cables (will 12v be ok?) + an inline fuse holder and a fuse (will 10 amps be ok?). or any other suggestions are more than welcome! ![]() |

Personally I'd get multi strand auto cable rated higher than 10 amps which I'd guess would be 1.5-2.0mm squared. 10 amp fuse should be ok, as long as your cable is sized correctly. Last edited by Specialone; 24-02-11 at 06:09 PM. |

Mine is wired direct to the battery. A relay isn't needed to protect wiring if you wire the socket in correctly and don't run anything that's rated at higher wattage than the socket is rated at, and as long as it's fused at the correct rating. Mine is only used to charge phones and blow up my airbed.

Spot on. Cable rated at 15A would be more than sufficient and a 10A fuse for a socket rated at 120W is correct.

I did this but fitted it under the seat - mainly so that I could leave my phone in there on charge while I was at bike meets etc and not worry about it going missing. I do like what Lozzo and Specialone have done though so might look at adding a second one this year.
I use the TomTom software for my iPhone while riding, it drains the battery fairly quickly so fitting on of these was a must. It is fused and wired directly to the battery. Fitted with some double sided tape and a cable tie. Not pretty, but hidden from sight and functional. ![]() |

are you gonna drill a 6mm hole in your helmet too so you can smoke whilst you ride?
