What will Steve Jobs be launching later.....

so the new one is slightly thinner, same screen, 0.2 pounds lighter has a camera on the front and back, basically tweeking.

the biggest change is the processor which I suppose gives it more power. I would like to see if battery time suffers becuase of that.

I would be pretty pevved if I had just spent £500 on a IPAD 1 when it is less than a year since release.

I am not an apple hater pursay, but I dont agree with their business ethic. Take a look at this article for a typical apple tactic.

Im not saying other companies dont do this sort of thing but apple is the master.

basic rule of thumb is treat my like an idiot and you aint getting my money.

surely what they do is the same as bands, release an album then release it again with 1 extra song, oh gotta buy it as it's differant.

When bands do this I dont buy their albums.

Aparently some BBC reporter has gotten into trouble on commenting that the iPad2 is just the same but thinner and lighter - just like Steve Jobs

Just what I expected really, camera's front & back, new processor, gyroscope will be nice a feature as the games on the iphone4 that are developed to work with the gyroscope are brilliant, Gun-range being one of my favourite.
I dont really understand what people want it to do differently its a tablet at the end of the day and comments like "its just the same as the other one" are stupid.
Its a new model not a new device so the things that improve are generally style and hardware.
Its the same with everything.
Most Manufactures have a range of products and change the models year on year, EG TV's .....
My 2009 50" Panasonic HD TV and the 2010 50" Panasonic HD TV are no different they use the same panel all they did was stick a network socket on the rear for Internet TV and changed the base, The Price difference was big.
Another eg My KEF 2005.2 eggs 5.1 speaker set a year after I had them they released KEF 2005.3 all they did was change them from matt black to gloss black and the sub woofer had a little higher rating
again price difference was huge for very little change.
When Vaxhall release a new model Astra it doesn't turn into a boat its still a car as the ipad is still a tablet
Do you see a pattern forming here its called Business.
Apple are good at it this is why they have some of the best products on the market.

Actually the big new move at crApple is their change in tack...

They have gone from "We are Apple, our stuff is brilliant" to "We are Apple, everyone else's stuff is rubbish and a copy"

After all it was Apple that brought us phone to phone video conferencing with Facetime, and they are the first company to use a Dual Core CPU in a tablet, and oh wait, didnt my Nokia N95, and in fact many of the 1st 3G phones offer to change the comms world with video conferencing, and Steve was obviously too ill to read up on the Motorola Xoom specs with ITS 1GHz Dual core CPU...

I don't know why people think this refresh is an Apple rip off... I have the first iPad, and I'm not overly bothered about this new one - Apple replace products on a predictable cycle, its just far more obvious as there are fewer products in the range and much more hype.

I won't be buying one as the new version doesn't have any feature worthy of the upgrade cost / hassle to me. The iPad2 now has similar specifications to all the new Android tablets that are coming to market, so will remain competitive which was the whole point of the refresh.

We buy Sony laptops at work, and the specs are constantly changing, new models come out etc etc. Nobody notices as there are hundreds of SKU's already.
