I also disagree with your first point, the restrictions on the apple handset are no tighter than those on any orange or vodaphone handset I've previously had.

Maybe for an end user who uses a product for its out of the box appeal the apple is fine, but for people like yourself who expect to be able to dive a little deeper into the tech then I can understand why they may be frustrating.

For me though I will admit the most disopointing thing about the iphone is that the tech is old before the phone is even released - even though when it is released its made to seem like its the only product out there which is capable of doing it.

Facetime - the first mobile phone to phone video chat? - they obviously missed the Nokia N95 oh and the Nokia did it over Cell Service, not just Wifi.

What if you want to download something over Bittorrent - nope, Steve doesn't want you doing that.

Flash? Well yes it can be buggy and unstable, but dont you think that it should be YOU that decides if you want to risk it to play Flash content from the internet?

Emulators for old game systems? Play Super Mario All-Stars on a SNES emulator while on the bud? Final Fantasy 7 on a PSOne? Only if you jailbreak.

So no, its not just Geeks that are restricted.

Facetime... Yeah thats the sort of thing I mean by making it seem like a massive new thing when its anything but, you're right though I supose it is a credit to thier marketers, some people must fall for it.

Flashmedia - Oh I'll defo give you that one, that does bug me that I cant use it. Our league table is updated in flash so I can never see it, winds me up a bit that.

Not interested in the emulator stuff, there are plenty more new games available than I could ever have the time to play, which I'd expect to be the same for most people so again not really a general user problem that will only be for users with tech mentailities such as yours fella.
