At some point somebody will be unhappy with somebody elses overtake, and the 'culprit' won't think it was unsafe at all, and will think the 'victim' is over-exaggerating and talking sh!t if the incident ever goes public.

Don't think I've been on a big rideout where other peoples overtakes haven't been moaned about at stops. Unavoidable in a big group IMO as everyone has a different view of the road ahead, and a different opinion on what makes a 'safe' overtake.

You'll never please everyone Dizz, so my advice would be to stop trying.

I had to move over for more than one rider on the GM to let them return to the correct side of the road, as they were about to plant themselves into oncoming vehicles on the fast straight sections though Glencoe. One even realised they were in the sh!t and waved and nodded in semi-thanks, semi-apology for making some room for them, whist no doubt they and the oncoming driver caught a breath, lowered their heart rate and gave the brake discs a chance to cool down.

On an EAR rideout last weekend one rider came past me no further than 18 inches away and at double my speed, and I thought "F**k me Mr XXX, that was close and fast!", on that occasion I hadn't seen them coming.

Those riders will remain nameless as there is nothing to be gained by raising an issue over it.

There's no point in making an issue over it after the event, you won't achieve anything. Next ride it'll happen again, and it may be the same person or maybe somebody else. Either ride defensive and take responsibility for everything that happens around you, and your eyes on your mirrors, so other peoples bad overtakes don't affect you, or as some of the guys on this thread do, choose not to go on big group rides.

What he said.

We all make mistakes.....anyone who says they have never done an overtake that they then though "feck, shouldn't have gone for that" tells porkies.....

I wasn't talking bout me, you haven't met Kitty yet, if your retinas haven't detached after meeting her, her throttle was obviously not twisted hard enough
Nope, you can never please everyone, however, pointing out to people to remember there isn't just you out there, and a little courtesy doesn't go amiss etc is the whole point, I can't reiterate it enough.
I don't do big rides, Kitty is so loud folk 'buzz' me and scare me to death, but thats my fault, I can't hear them. I'm still dilly dallying wether to do the rideout itself, purely because I like to ride by myself not in big groups. Suppose its mandatory for an organiser to do it.

Only been to one AR 7 years ago. As for reasons stated already it's a NO!

The ride to the AR & the Evening entertainment/company was brilliant, but the actual rideout was pants.

Well apart from riding down there (up?) Im not on the rideout, Im just coming along wit the family for a meetup and a few beers, burgers. Still on bike though, with the lovely wifey bringing up the rear with a carfull of tents n toddlers!

It's a no from me DT.

I am doing Snetterton on 8th August if you fancy trying out the new circuit!

I'm surprised there's random overtaking on the AR. Suppose its a big group to organise mini groups who want to go at similar pace
