correct there is a rider on the bottom of insurance certificates which state that "nothing contained within this certificate effects your right to claim as a third party"

as exclusions are listed on the cert (normally) they will probably exclude cover under section 1 of the policy (comprehensive) if under the affluence of inchohol.

Mine excludes section 52, drunk In Charge so they wont pay out to fix my car if I crash the car and am over the limit.

Neither did I so did a bit of checking and it seems the law changed quite recently. It was not clear to me if the change was in 2007 or 2010, but both are 'recent' in terms of the parking at night law as it had not changed since my test in 1981 prior to that AFAIK.
