Awesome fist bike, just dont forget to do up your helmet strap in excitement and dont pin the throttle expecting it to be like a 125 you have ridden. they are NOT the same

So I'm obviously positioning myself wrong on the bike.
Most people seem to rate it as a very comfortable bike, So I must be doing something hideous wrong.

Congrats, it's my first big bike too, never looked back!

First thing I'd suggest is adjust the position of the clutch/brake lever on the handlebars. Sidsquid told me to do it, It's one 10mm nut on each and you can rotate them to match the angle of your arm.

I do a lot of in town and it made a huge difference to the clutch comfort after an hour or so of filtering through London.

Everyone is different but the SV for me is very comfortable just keep your hips forward and weight off your arms but then again im only 5ft 9.

Other than that... Relax. I'm doing about 1000 miles a month on it and I've never felt it as a strain.

Nope, I don't find it comfortable after for more than couple of hours. But that's down to the saddle. It doesn't fit my a**e very well. So for longer rides I bought a honda VFR which has a much more comfortable seat.

Now, when I get back on my SV after riding the VFR it seems small and light. I guess it's all down to what you're used to.

The clutch requires loads of pressure to operate, after a few minutes of riding the clutch in traffic it really begins ache my hand. Is this normal or do I need to MTFU

Also, having trouble getting comfortable on the bike. I normally have my clutch foot in the shift up position, so my foot is flat against the peg & the toe of my braking foot on the tip of the other peg.
Does it take awhile to get properly seated to the SV ... or am I making the unnecessarily awkward

Thanks for everyone's replies, It's been a huge help.
When not changing gear put the ball of your foot on the peg. It will take time to get used to it.

Let somebody used to SVs have a fondle of your clutch, if the cables are worn they get heavy, same on any bike really. The SV clutch is fairly light in grand scheme of things.

Traffic? What? Never mind all that bollox they tell you in test about riding along in slow traffic riding the clutch... you're on a bike!

They are, the seat lets them down for some people. I found it unbearable after 4 hours or so.

The longest I've done is 2.5 hours and I had no issue at all. I was doing 50-70mph and my lower back only got a little sore as my speed dropped to city speed (10-30mph)

It's interesting that people seem to find the standard curvy seat so uncomfortable. I've never found it to be so, myself. I've had lots of all day journeys on my curvy and it's been all day comfortable for me.
Maybe I have a strangely shaped ar5e! Not that I'm about to offer it for inspection mind.....

probably, as said above put the balls of your feet on the pegs when not using the brake/gear levers, gives you a better feel for the bike i think.

i find mine very comfortable up until about 3 hours or so without stopping and i've got rearsets on just about their highest setting on mine (got fed up of trying to buy new shoddy suzuki parts after a couple of TD lowsides). and these things are higher than ss 600 standard pegs too (went to dealer n test rode one a while back).
