If he shot her thinking she was an intruder he will feel guilty forever. But that doesn't take away from the fact he was willing to shoot someone repeatedly through a door expecting to kill them. It could have been a neighbour's kid mucking about if ladders had been left up. He didn't know who it was and gave them no chance to say. And why go to your balcony in the dark if you are that afraid for your safety?

Whatever he meant to do its pretty good shooting to fire 4 shots through a closed door from below (apparently without legs on) and hit a person who you couldn't see (because you didn't know who it was) with three of the bullets.

Not really. When you know it's a woman sitting down having a wee, it should be fairly easy to work out where she is.
