That sign says be a responsible pet owner and clear up your dog mess! We've put them all along the alleyways as the neighbours are sick of people letting their dogs cr@p everywhere.

Cut the bugger down altogether and if you have to replace it with a slower growing tree.
If I cut it right down the neighbours can then see straight into my house and garden and at the moment in summer I can get stuff out of the freezer in the summer house in the morning without having to bother to put a dressing gown on. I do like the tree, better than the hideous leylandii next door have got that is now totally overgrown.

Get the other half to get out his axe.
You could borrow Sarah but she worries me with a chainsaw......
For the dog problem put up a sighn informing the local poop brigade that cctv is in use (although you can't actually do that).

All good info.

As for trimming back, as a proper tree surgeon explained it, a tree will generally want to grow back to the size the roots will support (as in support living not support physically). If you trim off end growth it will regenerate very quickly. It needs a good tree surgeon to discuss what can be done successfully. Avoid the cowboys and pikeys like the plague, too many of them about.

What spank said is the correct legal position. Check the is no preservation order on the tree first though. The council will have a record if there is.

De rail. But does any one know if using rape seed oil is really Ok on a Chainsaw blade.
I've got to cut back a tree that over hangs my pond, so I want to avoid normal mineral oil going in it

I would use it myself, lots of nice slippy glyerides in there and even if not then temporary use and chains are cheap. You'll still have a devil of a time flushing the normal bar oil out though and you might still get some condensed 2t oil on the pond?

Only thing is veggie will oxidise when left exposed and go sticky.
