I generally fill upat 260kms, but don't have a light on at that point. Probably about 11.5 litres at that point.

You could always get some small gerry cans, put them in some panniers and stop 'n' fill.

I have seriously thought of carrying a gerry can... but I get enough grief over the top box let alone that...

definitely want a larger tank...

Why don't you fit a fuel can inside your top box, and run a fuel line from there into a T-piece under the tank... maybe with a little tap from an old Kwak or something to select between tanks?

That'd add a good 5 litres to the range, and you'd still have room inside your box for your sarnies!

It might be one of those modifications you need to disconnect come MOT time though

At least it would be functional!

A bigger tank on the bike... I very much doubt it! Unless you had one custom made for you to fit the bike, in which case, you might as well buy a bike with a bigger tank.

ok... was wondering if it would have to be custom made...

so other than making my topbox even more useful I guess the ultimate answer is.... I gotta slow down to increase my fuel range!!!

Perhaps adjust your sprocket sizes... something smaller on the back would be more friendly to lower-rev'd cruising. This would mean more juice for the acceleration though...

... swings & roundabouts
... six & half-a-dozen
