OK
I'm new at doing this on bikes! I checked the manual for the oil spec and bought a gallon of 10W-40 Castrol GTX. I assume that this isn't a semi-syn but the manual doesn't say it should be! Before I do this change can I use the GTX or wil it damage the engine/clutch Thanks Tris |

If it's not bike oil, it may not be wise as car oil has anti-friction additives that can make the clutch start to slip, apparently.

If you've already used the castrol it will be ok until the next oil change. We've had this discussion on here before and some one turned up some tests done by a US mag ( I think) which came to the conclusion that using car oil had no effect on the engine, clutch etc, just that it was cheaper to buy. I still use semi-synth bike oil though. |

The equivalent Castrol bike oil is called "GPS", which is what I use.
