when i was told my bike was a write off they said leave it outside my flat until they pick it up. so i took off the mirrors, brake and clutch lever, pegs, gear lever etc.

they never mentioned it but if they had i would have just said i left it outsdie my flat on the road.... i didnt keep an eye on it 24/7. maybe someone stole them.

bad luck, but good luck for the future.

Had a call from the recovery company today... looks like they might be paying up! Well thats the way the phone call went, though I think I'll hold my breath about that yet. Just need to get hold of the insurance company to confirm the how much the bike is written off for.

I haven't read full story but if I'm right you got a puncture and the recovery people tied it to their truck and at some point it fell off, writting the bike off.. yes?

If so then that's ****ing ridiculous, don't claim on your insurance, courts all the way, as soon as the recovery companies get your bike it's their responsibilty. They tied it to their recovery truck and they have insurance to cover accidents.

DONT claim off yours, you have no need to lose out on this, fight it all the way! can't believe they'd ever be able to get out of liability in that situation!!!

If what I think happened (explained first bit of my post) is incorrect then ignore what I just said

Just because you've claimed, it doesn't mean to say you can't take them to court to claim damages & recoupe your NCD

The recovery company offered me 2500, and then wanted me sign a form saying I would come after them for anything else. So under instruction from my Solisitor I have been advised to claim via my insurance, then they can claim back from the recovery company and I can continue my personal injury claim for my knee and back.
The insurance want 900 for me to buy the bike back, is it worth my asking for something lower... and if they say know they to push it more? Has anyone had something similar?

I have no experience in this, but I would carry on the way you are, the insurance company will claim from the recovery company. you could probably still put in a claim after it is all settled for loss of earnings, extra travel expenses and worry.

If you are going to get paid from the insurance for the full value of the bike or enough to replace it, that must be better than 2500 and no more

Well I've been looking around and I think I have found some going for 2800, so I'm going to push that to the insurance (Jax is really I speak cack) and maybe get a little bit more.

at least things are moving in one directio or another for ya amte.

Hope you get a good injury lawyer and claim like **** out of the recovery truck company.

F'ing idiots...come out to pick up a bike but thru sheer incompetance end up witing it off and injuring the rider they went to rescue in the process.

Couldnt make this crap up could you
