I do wonder how much of the "don't stand much chance of getting it back" comments is simply down to a sort of 'cover your ass' mentality if they get nowhere.

Perhaps they feel it's better to paint a pessimistic pisture so you a) don't get your hopes up and b) are prepared for a result of non-recovery.

It almost sounds like one of those little mind games they teach people who do victim support etc. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

My workplace got broken into at the beginning of last week - had three brand new, unregistered KMX's stolen. We were pretty much told to concentrate on the insurance proceedings at there was budkus chance of recovery.
Three days later and they'd pulled a 16 yr old on one of them up some local woods - with good leads on the other two!
(Our local traffic cops have two police Transalps specifically for patrolling the surrounding woods and greenlanes!)

I agree with having a word further up the food chain though. After all, it can't do any harm and you may feel a positive kick simply by 'doing stuff'.

Sorry to hear about your loss mate, at least the police took an interest inyours, when mine was nicked from outside the house they didny even bother to turm up and I had to go down the station to report the details and show my reg documents, All I got is you wont see that again. I did get the engine and frame back after it was found down near the "mucky Duck" in wisley.
The insurence takes longer if its found coz the have to send an assessor round. but keep chasing the insurence company. it took 10 weeks to get mine to pay out.

Just spoken to the Loss adjusters and they have for now everything they need Been told I should hear back in the next 2 weeks about how much they are going to offer me.
Unless I get a really good deal on a new bike it's going to be the used market for me But seeing what steve has just bought it might not be all bad

Bide your time and find the right bike, I should know, I'm on my 4th bike in under 3 years , and I had the SV for 15 months and the Gixer about the the same.... (We won't mention the Falco...).

You have time to both think about what you want and test a few bikes....

BTW, I've know where there's a cracking black Gixer 6 for sale

.
