The RA's were far too twitchy. You could say that was plenty of feedback, but I just found they interfered with my riding, and made me a nervous rider. BUT, you are a more experienced rider than me, so your opinion is probably more apt. |

This is the 1st winter that i have not rode due to working somwehere different. As for the 'season' whats the point of putting good rubber on in the witner? I'll re-phrase it then....I'll put them on when i have the money! JB - Maybe you are right, but i do know what feedback from a tyre is, and pesonaly, i think its the other way around. As you know i think that the RA is like riding in treacle (No offence mate!) making the bike turn in slowly and feeling like the bike always wants to be upright and go straight! Anyway, you know all this, and iirc re agreed to disagree. Im going back to Z4's, at least we can all agree that they are sh** ![]() ![]() |

![]() During last summer I had my RAs really pushing it through the twisties, regularly scraping the footpegs and badly wearing the tread on the sides of the front tyre. Yes they were a little nervous but I found I soon got used to it and after a couple of weeks had a lot of confidence in them. They never slid in the wet, never let go in the dry. Now I'm not that much of an experienced rider but I'm more than happy to replace them with the same. But like most things it's horses for courses, and we've all got our own individual opinions and thank goodness for that ![]() . |

I found with 020's that they feel good out of the box during scrubbing in, I found that the Z6's were even better in this respect and that after 40 or 50 miles they felt really good to ride on

Totally agree with you Fizz. I wouldn't want to have to 'get used' to the way a tyre feels and rides, and get used to the nervousness of it. The z6's felt very good and natural (if that makes sense) from the get go. top tyres in my opinion.

In my experience I found that tyres don't really "scrub in" for about 100 miles anyway, no matter what make they are.
I switched from 020's to Conti Road Attacks and found the RA's to be a better tyre for me. The 020's are a decent tyre, but I found them to be a bit slow on the turn in and they never really inspired me with masses of confidence. With the RA's I find my bike a lot more flickable and they feel, to me, a lot better in the wet than the 020's. I'm not a massive fan of Metz tyres though as they have always worn funny for me, especially the front. The front tyre seems to wear just off centre on each side of the tyre to make the tyre kind of triangluar shaped for want of a better description. Let's be honest though, you're never going to get a definitive answer when it comes to tyres. What's good for one person may not be good for another. |

My 2p:
Actual grip capability of RAs, Stradas and Z6: Just about the same, very little to choose wet or dry, I really mean this, there's nothing in it. Handling wise, all these tyres are squarely aimed at being road use/sports tourer tyres, as such none of them are sporty-sporty sharp steering wise, nor could they in any way be described as unstable. They are about as similar in purpose as you're likely to find three products can be. Whether you like the way they feel, is a different matter, FWIW, I slightly preferred the Contis, IMO they gave the best steering response, and they certainly lasted well - for me anyway, I'm not the fastest or best rider by an awfully long way - and they certainly suited my bike very well.

i found a huge difference between my old 010's & my new Z6's. the 010's were a lot more flickable, but i found them unstable in the wet

never had the Ra's fitted on the SV but i can vouch for the diablo's model before strada as exceptional in the dry and very good in the wet. however recently switching to the z6 and find they suit me dry or wet
and i do push my bikes all the way at times ![]() so in answer to your question z6 out of the three for me (bearing in mind i can only go on others views on the Ra's ) tyres are definately a personal choice but I cannot say i have heard any serious complaints from a z6 rider ever ![]() |
