Look at it this way; aren't you glad this happened to your "winter hack" SV, rather than your 'blade? As someone else pointed out, it's unfortunate that bikes tend to make you like them, so even something bought purely as transport is "loved" and consequently missed when this sort of thing happens.

buy it back and sell the bits on here, i'm sure you'd soon get up to £1500

Thats @rse mate - that was a cracking looking bike (it made me want to powder coat my wheels gold - in fact i still want to).

Hope you get a good payout and another bike sorted.

A*se if that was me I would be well annoyed.

At least you know now that it was diesel that caused it.

Sounds like it wouldn't make sense to buy it back, in your shoes. But it's too nice to break. Hopefully someone'll have it as a rebuild. But not at £1700 I think, not with that damage.

Sometimes the smart thing to do is just walk away. There's little point in putting it back to standard, it'd be expensive... But there's not much point in putting the effort into making a special for what you use it for. Take the money and run, and if it's a second bike you want, get a scabbier one And just be glad it wasn't the blade.
