Anyhow it turns at the old bill were hidden behind a tree with their speed gun.

Just be careful not all those that are flashing you are pi55ed at you.
Have to second that, ive been speeding a little on a few occasions and wondered why i'm being flashed, and then kicked myself when ive gone past a mobile camera round the next corner. I can only assume the mobile units are as unreliable as MCN makes out for bikes, as i've never had any sign of them chasing, and once or twice i've been braking fairly hard and still over the limit as going past them. Could just be very lucky though...
But definitely consider speed cameras if people flash you. Obviously not if it's some muppet who looks shocked to even see you, but some car drivers are remarkably considerate at times.
Im not even going to gtet started on lane discipline, this is my first post and i dont want it to be a rant :P

So is it not normal to lean as close as possible towards the car you're overtaking, staring directly down the window into the driver's crotch, for the entire duration of the speedy maneuver? And when you've passed and back in the centre of the lane (Still with your head facing the driver...) casually face the road again and drive off?

Surely I'm not the only one...!?

What a So many of the people carries drivers are like this ime. When theyre not busy talking on the fone or facing the rear seats to talk to their kids as they drive, that is.

Maybe he just thought your bum looked nice on the back of the bike?

I'd have to agree with others here, the only reason I get flashed at by on-coming cars is a warning.

Hope you ain't making a generalisation there :P I drive a Ford Galaxy, and even before my CBT I'd stick a left indicator on to let a biker know I'd seen them. Motorways usually aren't an issue unless it's heavy with traffic, but even then, I'll sit as far left as I can so the bike behind knows I'm one of the considerate 'cagers'.

Whilst on the subject of mobile phones, that's what handsfree kits are for isn't it? But usually when I flash my lights at a biker it's one of a few things. 1) A compliment on his/her bike, 2) I'm saying 'Hi' to someone I know or 3) My jealousy, since I've got the kids in the back arguing, and the other half chewing my ear off about something I don't really care about (Just in case she reads this, she's not that bad, honest) and I'm trapped in a cage on a beautifully sunny day. Although, me & my 18month old play the great game of 'Car, Van, Bike, Daddy Bike' when we're out. Please spare a thought for the guys like us, especially in the summer when it's hard enough to see in the shade/sun areas.

Incidentally, if I have to tell anyone to slow down, I light up like a christmas tree. Hazards & flashing full beam. Ignore that & you'd deserve the points if you're lucky enough for it not to be a tree logger round my parts. (Yes, I'm expecting the comments)

OK, so maybe that was a bit of a rant, but no offence intended Honest. In the words of my DAS instructor "Spare a thought for the guy behind you." Also, yes, granted, the next MPV you overtake could be a complete t**t, just saying we aint all that bad!

Not had this for a while but once on the bandit I had a BMW tailing me at about 10ft behind at 80mph.... flashed brake lights.. it made no difference, went down a couple of gears, hit kill switch, brought ignition back on... fireball out the can... gotta love carbs, he backed off after that
