A mate of mine joined the Legion. We don't hear much from him at the moment, for obvious reasons, but it seems like he's found a home- he was supposed to be joining our navy but it just kept on getting put off and put off with the vetting. One Irish parent, one Bosnian grandparent

I joined the legion to forget. Forget what? Don't know.

Dave, don't you remember what happened the last time the cherry beer came out?

Now there's the pot calling the kettle - Andy, you don't remember what happen last time!

Or is that perhaps why you are asking Dave?

To move on from the Security thing, have you perhaps thought about joining the Police force?

I would say that turning a hobby or pleasurable pasttime into a career isn't always a good direction to take.
It can, over time, leech away your enjoyment. Turning it from something you enjoyed choosing to do to something you resent having to do.

Rather, perhaps think about what style of work you'd rather do and then look to what's available in that.

Then again you could just blow every penny you've got into lottery tickets on the off chance you'd never have to work again.

Move south and join london underground as a general dogsbody(support fitter) in the singal engineering department.

within 2-3 years providing you have passed all the courses your basic salery will have gone from 22k as a know nothing dogsbody to 49k with the ability to earm upwards of 65k providing you put the hours in.

garunteed pay rises each year due to the militant nature of the unions in the public transport sector plus 34 days holiday a year.

plus on top of that the work is such that the only way to get trained to do it is to actually join LUL in the first place. There is more work than we know what to do with meaning if you leave and join a contractor firm as a self employed engineer your looking at wages in the region of 100k easy(again providing you put the hours in)

Sound good? it's what i do!! I'm 25 living in my own 4bed detached house which i pay for comfortably and have enough spare cash to be able to race a motorcycle next year.
