Un-restrcited bike..

Oh and I've ridden in snow many a time an not once did I think it was fun!

I agree Abyss that the extra power for overtakes would be handy BUT it would be easy to open it up in a corner after not quite being used to that extra power and bin it.

Would you consider doing the next part of the test or will you wait 2 years?

I will be doing my DAS soon as i hit 21 (8months)

just out of intrest in the bitching here, how many of you have cans on your bike non stanard, have you looked at your insurance policy? a good few ive visted say the bike must be stanadrd with no modificiations (which would include tail tidys, indys etc) so i bet a good few people on here are technicly un-insured, so hes no worse than others..

i got a 33bhp sv with micron downpipes, quill t3 can, (told insurance to ) and its pently all right for what i need it for, though i do look forward to having it unrestricted

Have a Blue Flame, told insurance, they didn't care unless it improved power by a lot, which it doesn't.

All modifications on both my bikes. Including under tray and mini indicators, can etc declared to my insurance company. I even have the scotoiler thats fitted declared as a modification.

Its not the fact that he's un-insured that I dont agree with its the principle of it.

You take a 33bhp restricted test and then decide that your bikes not fast enough so then you de-restrict it illegally as you dont have a license to ride a full power bike. Personally I failed to understand why anybody would think that was OK.

Would you drive a car with no license. I know most people wouldnt. Why is riding a full power bike on a 33bhp restricted license any different ?

Thats what i did, i did the restricted licence at the start of last year but then did my trip to portugal later in the year and decided i needed the full power and then did the test again, knowing that i could now do the U turns better. Before that i was restricted, the only time i rode it unrestricted was from a freinds garage where it was delivered, along to the garage to get it restricted which was about 1mile away.

Many insurers stipulate (if you call them) that they dont care what cosmetic mods are on, juts that they will NOT pay for their replacemet should you bin it. For example, my bike is black and silver. Should I bin it, it will be restored to blue and grey.

So yes, he is worse than others (except HE is unfair as HE is going to do the right thing )

Its mainly an issue with the police not insurance. You are riding a bike that you have no licence for. You insurance in the event of a fault accident and apon finding out that the bike is full power (usaly only checked if cause is thought to be because of speed) will possably pay out the 3rd party insurance and then try and sue you to recover the costs, then the plod will slap you with riding without an apropriate licence for the bike amongst other things.

Things like exhaust etc, can be a debatable thing, but no apropriate licence is not debatable.

Pretty much spot on. You ride a derestricted bike on a restricted licence, and you can be stuck on for riding otherwise in accordance with a licence. You are also uninsured and wide open to numerous condescending replies should you admit to being rather naughty.

So I suppose the moral is - even at 33bhp you can waste most people off the lights, so be satisfied with that, and in no time at all those washers (or electronic bits) will come off (or be changed) and you will have 70ish bhp to spank people with.

Is that a moral? I'm not so sure, it's late. I think I'll have another beer.


Oh and by the way, if you accidentally injure somebody and they rip your bike apart, you're gonna be totally stuffed

Actually if you knew anything about the people on this forum you would know how inaccurate "so i bet a good few people on here are technicly un-insured" is.

I would suggest its the opposite - that those who have modded the bike have made sure it hasnt invalidated their insurance, or got insurance that allowed mods to the bikes.

For the record, I declared ALL mods to CN with absolutely no problem whatsoever.

PS Dr Rich, talk to Moriarty about insurance and his can. They put a Renegade on instead of an original Suzuki one because its cheaper. Which kind of underlines what insurers really think of mods vs oem parts. :P
