My mk2Bros 650 after k&n and jetting was dynoed at tyre shredding 44bhp! Flat torque curve from 3000-7500rpm was impressive and was maybe the reason it never felt under powered. Was on a track day with a BROS with a bored out to 800cc 750 Africa twin topend. Left quite a few people slack jawed when that thing got opened up down the straight....... mostly ducati owners!

The chassis was what made the bike great tho'. Alloy frame , sexy single sider, RC designation. Fat tyres (for the time) and proper V-twin thin.

I would love to see Honda bring out a updated version with the Deauville "big bore" engine. Can't see it. Think it will just stay in our imaginations I'm afraid.

I really, really dislike it.

It looks like it's missing it's "hooning" appeal. The hornet is a nutters weapon of choice and was it's design reflected that. The new hornet is horrendous. Things I don't like about it:

Naturally that huge exhaust underneath the bike

Front headlight assembly

Clocks

Rear plastics - Whats with the current trend of making minimal plastics and big sticky outy, thin grab rails.

The foot peg assembly. On the old hornet it was 'okay' but that bike would look a whole lot better with seperate pillion pegs sticking out from the usual position (most likely not possible due to the crap frame). Its very minimalist at the rear end.

Front mudguard? Doesn't look like there is much protection on the vital fork stanchions there. I hate USD's enough, with no protection from the mudguard, it's bloody daft.

I was always going to hate it right enough. I love the old hornet. RIP good looking hornet.

I thought along with the new Z750 it was one of the best looking bikes at the NEC. Another one to add to the ever increasing list of possible next bikes. Along with a Speed Triple, Tuono, R6, GSXR750, 749, Daytona 675..... as you can tell I really know what I want!

Not that I can afford any of them
