SV650.org - SV650 & Gladius 650 Forum

Idle Banter For non SV and non bike related chat (and the odd bit of humour - but if any post isn't suitable it'll get deleted real quick).
There's also a "U" rating so please respect this. Newbies can also say "hello" here too.

I agree. But equally, I dont think people are taking a step back and seeing they are participating into a "mob rule" witch hunt mentality. That if Martins upset them in the past, its very easy to jump on the bandwagon now and add weight to the mob. Thats why I was saying this is not reflecting well on people either.

Lyn, this is not all directed at you.
Not taken as being directed at me. I have the visordown 6 inches thick skin now

I look at it, if I upset people on here it doesnt necessarily bother me because most people are just 0s and 1s. Thats not saying it was my intent, but I cant control how someone perceives my posts or how previous interactions with me affect their perception. So I stop worrying about that now since I cant actually change that.

But what does bother me is people pressing to have people banned for how theyre perceived and confusing deliberate trolling with insensitivity. Particularly given that perceptions once formed are very hard to shift. Clearly no-ones thinking it will ever happen to them

i dont believe that its a perception problem, i believe that m paton, goes out of his way to deliberately enflame a situation, hes done it in the past and he'll continue to disrupt the happy balance of the community while ever hes allowed to continue to sprout sh!te,
i also hold the view that you cant just ban people for getting up the noses of others, but as ive said i dont think this is a miss interpretation of his views, or even a lack of tact, i think hes been considered in his responses and deliberately pushes it.

i also understant the comparisons to visordown, yes the trolling on visordown is extreme, but thats why any trolling here is recieved so badly, as were a much smaller forum than visordown and most of the peeps on here are not exposed to the constant abuse that is allowed to prosper on that site.

i think that if we allow trolling on the basis that its not that bad compared to X, then this site will be a much worse place.

However, from the administration perspective, on a site like this, where membership is free, all you can really do about it is ask someone nicely to cease & desist.

If someone has the knowledge, it's not hard to circumvent any measures put in place to stop them posting on this site. The only measure guaranteed to work is stopping everyone.

Hmm. Does that sound appealing?
