Fully qualified practitioner of the paper glass method. Not sure I'd try it in Oz though... is there anything out there that Isn't poisonous?

As commented above, woodlouse spiders will rarely bite a person (unless you're annoying it - something the local reptile guy loves to do to any animals, don't know how he's still got a job TBH).

You want scary spider stories, read on (if not, skip the rest of this post).

Years back, my mate used to keep a pair of Mexican firelegs (a type of tarantula). I knew the spiders pretty well, having handled them extensively. I also knew that he'd secured his room so that he could give them free roam of his bedroom whenever he wanted, and they couldn't escape from there.

One night I slept there, on the floor of his bedroom. I found out in the morning that his spiders had crawled off somewhere to lay their eggs (tarantula's lay between 75-1000 eggs per sitting). The night I slept there was hatching night.

I woke up to hundreds of baby spiders all over the room. Fair kecked myself, but once they were all contained, I was happy.

Someone mentioned earlier that we eat approx 5 - 7 spidies in our sleep, are you sure you didn't have a midnight snack? Yum
