Basically, my plan is that next year ('09) I'll do the sortee to France, then probably the year after do more distance & see some more of Europe. The France trip will consist of the EuroTunnel, then follow the northern coastline for some good twisty roads, then back inland to complete a loop, and back through the tunnel. I'm looking at doing that over 4-5 days so I can afford to take it easy. The Euro trip (2010 ![]() |

The first trip involved using the Chunnel and to be honest it was a bit of a nightmare coming from South Wales. The p'ing rain might have had something to do wit it but not a lot. For the Normandy trip we went via Poole to Cherbourg and came back via Caen to POrtsmouth. Much easier! On May 23rd we( 3 of us from WRC) go from Portsmouth to Caen and then south and a little east, through France to take in the Puy-en-Velay, Tarn gorges and the Millau bridge. Then south west traversing the pyrenees via Andorra(maybe!) into Spain. West across Northern Spain and into the Picos de Europa. Finally run down from the Picos into Santander to catch the ferry back to Plymouth on June 3rd. We have a general plan of our route but it's not fixed in stone. Since there are only three of us I didn't see any need to book any accommodation at all - probably get egg on my face for that ![]() To be honest I wasn't all that impressed with the roads in Northern France. It seemed to me that they got really impressive when you went further south and approached the Massif Central, which is why we have got the Puys and Tarn as fixtures of our tour. As for luggage, I'm gonna try and get away with my 46 L topbox and double tank bag and maybe a small tail pack. I took throwover panniers to Normandy and didn't get on with them all that well. The other two guys both have FJR 1300s with the OEM panniers. My K1 is going to have fun ![]() |

I think its only fair your two buds take all your luggage on their huge super-fast super-spacious super-tourers, they could be your back up vehicles!
![]() Whatever, I know who is going to be having more fun in the twisties. ![]() |
