Not quite true tho i see where you are coming from FS.

None of us gave the Govt the explicit right to ploriferate CCTV cameras in the way they have.

None of us gave the Govt the right to log, store and transcribe all our landline and mobile phone calls and make them available to a whole heap of Govt Depts...yet they still went ahead an did it.

And do you think any of us have the power to reversed those decisions that the establishment have made on our behalf?

And i also dont think either of the 2 horses in the race will not introduce ID cards, they may say they wont to get in but then politicians say lots of things to get in and they cant be held accountable for not doing those things once they are in...excpet by voting them back out

I'd say that most people probably think that CCTV is a good idea. Phone taps etc perhaps not. But really, whether or not people actually want those things, the certainly tolerate them and that's why the government gets away with it. I recently posted this quote in anothe thread but I'll do it again 'cos it's a good'n. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance" - Thomas Jefferson.

Above all political parties want power and they'll do anything to get it. If that ment rolling back certain powers once in government to get it, they would. Sadly, people are stupid, they ask for stupid things, and they get a stupid government.

So there ain't gonna be an election. I'm itching to cast my vote to hoof them out but on balance no election now is a good thing because then this shower can show how bad they really are over a longer period.

Since it's been on the news and I can't find it mentioned anywhere... Although I know it won't do any good, I'd just be interested to see how many entries it can get:
