I also think that it may be a good thing, as someone has already said, if Hamilton wins then people start saying that McLaren favour Hamilton, this way there SHOULD be no comeback on the team (Fingers crossed). I really can't see Alonso staying with McLaren next year, hopefully Hamilton may win then too so Alsonso can't say I told you so about Hamilton being favoured. |

Fizz believe it or not the press here are not realy having a go at Lewis at all. They do though seriously question the whole thinking and ethics behind the McLaren team. Yes of course they favour Alonso after all he is the 2 times world champ in the most coveted motor sport known to man. But they are not slow to criticise him when he makes racing or interview errors.(Like for example a big prize for a Spanish citizen is the "Prince of Asturias award" now coincidentally Fernando is from Asturias and the Royal Prince here is the Prince of Asturias. When Fernando was given this award he thanked those that helped him along the way but the praise was aimed more at his father. No mention for the likes of Renault for example?) But you see here in Spain champions in motor sport are revered and held with massive respect and in that they see a way in which a champ should be looked after. I do not think the Spaniards object to Alonso being made to fight for his 3rd title and they also have been captivated by LH's impact this season. However this is my point, there have had to be things going on, be it actions, words or attitude in the Mclaren camp. Alonso was fully appreciated at renault, not spoilt and bowed to as many think. He was though apprecaited for his ability. The most damning thing for me,ignoring everything else that has taken place in this crazy season was Ron Dennis's comments at the last race when stating that "they" were racing Alonso and not Kimi? The Ferrari driver can still win the title FFS! But no there was a greater desire to see off the spaniard,(your team leader)than there was to defeat the main driver for your bitterest rival. For me with those comments alone, any respect in a motor racing sense that I had for Ron, went right out of the window. P.s. It is being reported in the German rag BILD that Alonso has already signed a 3 year contract to rejoin Renault and his mentor Briatore. Last edited by Pedrosa; 12-10-07 at 09:09 AM. Reason: error |

But woudl you not agree and I've heard Martin Brundle say it ( who I think knows he stuff and I respect his opinion ) that your biggest oppponent is the guy in the same car as you... I think though that after all's been said, between FA and RD, that RD might prefer it to see LH win the title, English Guy, English team going to look better for him isnt it. ( I know Mercedes have a big stake holding in Mclaren but the perception is that they are an english team I think )
I still think Flavio massaged FA ego at Renault and he's got used to be treated a certain way and now he's not being treated in that way, is causing problems in his mind, which is whats letting him down. But from the other side of the coin, Mclaren have a history of upseting difficult to handle drivers. Juan Pablo for instance.... I think RD can come across as a cold and unemotional guy, and I think he works better with drivers who conform to his idea of what a driver should be and how one should behave, i.e no facial hair, he's got a very corporate ethic to the whole thing and perahps drivers like FA and Juan Pablo dont fit well in that scenario, Look at DC first thing he did when he left Mclaren he grew a beard, perhaps it isnt easy to work well in an environment where you feel like you have to do as you are told all the time. I think even Lewis rebelled against it which caused the pit lane holding up incident that seems to have sparked alot of this off. Interesting to know that Lewis doesnt get the caning in the Spanish press that Alonso does though. I think that says alot about the British media. I note the other weekend some people have been saying that if Alonso does go elsewhere or takes a year off, then Jenson Button should get the other seat at Mclaren... I tell you one thing, we've not seen a championship with a 3 way fight for the title this close for a good few years. Its good to see them fighting and battling it out rather than Schumacher esq domination we've had in the past. As for FA vs LH, difficult to tell, both determined to win, but perhaps FA is willing to push further in order to get what he wants, but if they take each other off and Kimi finishes well they could chuck the title away. IMHO all LH needs to do is just finish behind FA, if he's got any sense he'll just follow him round. Which might be abit dull, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do...

Fizz - your last paragraph?
Spot on! That's all he needs to do. Finish the race and do it one behind FA and it's in the bag. I tell you what though - it might be easy for him to do and a bit boring to watch but I bet you a tenner that his ball$ (and ours) will be in our throats the whole race lol. Nev. |

I thought highly of FA since his F1 start, great talent and determination, hence his 2 F1 titles and in a Renault. Now going to Mclaren everyone thought the No1 seat was his and quite rightly so. However I have closely followed LH before F1 and I knew he'd upset the applecart.
All respect for FA went out the window as soon as he started acting like a spoilt brat who wants everything his own way. LH is beating you cos the kid is good, deal with it either by showing your skill on the track or doing it sneakily by blackmailing RD and playing dirty tricks. The bloke needs a bloody good hiding IMHO and I can't believe RD hasn't been the one to do it. F**k off Fernando and go cry in the corner if you can't handle the heat time to get out of your seat. ( I quite like that ) As for Ferrari / FIA I've never known such a corrupt pair to spoil the sport. Moseley is a business man not a sports man, keepo your nose out. I am so angered by the corruption I have all but lost interest in the sport. Every thing goes Ferrari's way. Oh and the spying row, how is it spying when one of Ferrari's top men give/sell a document to Mclaren? Am I missing something here? |
