Fernando mentioned in a TV interview a few days ago that his immediate future would be clearer within the next 2 to 2 weeks. However apparently Renault are wanting his decision regarding rejoining them by tomorrow.
Do we therefore take it then that Renault is not his immediate destination? |

I dont what he thinks he'll achieve with going to Ferrari, if Kimi is 2008 champion again, he'll be established in the team and then Fernando will have to deal again with a strong team mate which I think we'd agree on has left him somewhat flustered this year...

I can't see Red Bull going to the trouble of sacking either DC or Webber just to employ Alonso for just one year, nor can I see the ultra-competitive Alonso be happy running in the mid-field either.
Fisichella's contract runs out this year year anyway so Alonso returning to Renault would seem to be the obvious choice, maybe even agreeing to a 2 year deal so he doesn't have to take a pay cut ($22 million a year, apparently?) but then this would keep him out of Ferrari until at least 2010. Raikkonen has been quoted as saying he's not in Formula 1 for the long term and now that he's eventually become World Champion (assuming the McLaren appeal isn't successful and promotes Lewis Hamilton to 4th place at Brazil and hence World Champion) there might be a vacant seat at Ferrari sooner than you think. If the rumours are true and Alonso already has an agreement to drive for Ferrari in 2009 then the chances are he'll be alongside Massa and not Raikkonen. My guess is he'll take a pay cut and join Renault on a 1 year contract while Flavio Briatore tries to convince him to stay a little longer. |

Not a clue, it's only something I've read in F1 Racing mag. Apparently when the F1 season has finished he spends his weekends racing skidoos in Finland under the name of James Hunt! The guy just loves racing, no matter what the form of transport.

Interesting that Ferrari have drafted Michael Schumaker in to test drive their non traction control car.No doubt he can give a lot of feedback as after all the majority of his driving was with cars with the ability to spin up. I wonder what brain wave Uncle Ron has in mind? To dig up James Hunt maybe?
