What diesel do you drive that doesn't do 10p a mile?

I have never reset the on board system on my Vectra SRI150 since I got it 14 months ago. Over the 46,000 miles I have done it says my average consumption was 42.8 MPG. so at 10P/mile. I get

42.8 = 9.45 miles/litre * 10p/mile means I get 95.5 p/litre when fuel cost 103p/litre. So I am out of pocket by 7p/litre.

I have argued this with the company and asked they provide me with my fuel directly. No they won't as I a subsiding my business travel.

Socomm I think the idea is great but I'm afraid you won't have my support on this one, not because I don't want to, but because my fuel card account is with BP and as its a company card I don't get any choice. I thought about e-mailing the 10 contacts but the chances are they'll just be duplicates from loads of other folk so not worth wasting my friends' time.

Personally I have no idea how we could get them to lower the prices or tax and doubt if they did it would be a big enough cut to be of benefit. Like Timwilky my company car costs me fuel - I think the only cars on our availablity list that don't cost more to run than we get paid for are the stupid Corsa/Yaris/Fiesta variants, all of which are too small for my role as I can't carry my required equipment & safety kit in one of those things. Still, I'm hoping for a start on a new job next year which involves a lengthy commute, so that'll be fun seeing so much of my hard-earned burn away into the atmosphere.

I reckon at 1.50 /litre (petrol/diesel) for a sustained period people would start selling big cars/4x4's and the goverment would have to reduce commercial tax on diesel. At 2.00/litre many people would consider why they are making journeys, this would also have a significant affect on the luxury/sports car market.

On the upside motorbikes are gernerally very good on fuel.

What would you pay on your bike or car before you stoped using it, I dont have a car but I reckon at £3 litre i would really think about riding for fun. When it hit £1 last time that was the last straw for my 2.5 omega.

Ive got a BP fuelcard too, but its in conjunction with Allstar - so I can buy fuel from just about any garage...even the one in't village which is 107.9 for petrol and 104.9 for diesel....eeekkk

Is your card not the same?

Not entirely sure of the ins-and-outs of it but its a Routex card, we can use Total garages aswell but don't get the discount, not that there are too many around here anyway. Other than emergency situations the agreement is we will only use the card for fuelling so that leaves us as good as BP only.

£107.9/104.9 is ridiculous.
