Have a good day, Gary. I now have The Move's 'Blackberry Way' playing on my internal jukebox.

Hope it went well for you Gary. Lady Poppy was not far from there today but she and her sister already had plans when I suggested they might want to go along and chat to every wandering minstrel they could see with a squeezebox until they found you. Sis in law lives in Oswestry and oddly enough her local station is Gobowen.

Personally I only made it as far north as the SVR station at Kidderminster today. Just an excuse for a day's ride out for me but it was quite funny to stand at the far end of the car park and watch the real enthusiasts with their video cameras and mobiles on tripods getting very excited as a BR class 25 set off up the line. The cafe in the museum is very chill so I enjoyed a sandwich and a brew there before taking the long way home. Nice day.

I love this event: it's one of my annual markers and it signifies the proper start to autumn. A lovely day tinged with sadness at the passing of another summer.

If you've never been to the Blackberry Fair it's well worth a visit.
I've never heard of it till now. Tell us more.

Big street fair and market which takes over Whitchurch from the top of the High Street to the bottom of Green End. Market stalls, music, street acts and a grand procession, The Carnival of Plenty, at the end of the day. Wonderful day.

Morning all. Proper autumn weather here this morning, damp and misty.

A Day in Autumn
It will not always be like this,
The air windless, a few last
Leaves adding their decoration
To the trees’ shoulders, braiding the cuffs
Of the boughs with gold; a bird preening
In the lawn’s mirror. Having looked up
From the day’s chores, pause a minute,
Let the mind take its photograph
Of the bright scene, something to wear
Against the heart in the long cold.

RS Thomas.

Got a small IT job this morning. I was going to use the bike to get to it but the bike is very clean, and the roads are wet and mucky, so I may just go in the car unless it dries up quickly.

I've also gone down with a cold, nothing too serious, but enough to make me think it would be sensible not to be riding the bike in this weather.

That's a nice piece, Gary. Our daughter visited yesterday and we had a lovely walk out to the hills. Red ivy leaves were aflame in the sun on the side of a farmhouse, while two buzzards made lazy spirals in the sky. We saw a stoat too, heading back to its lair with some sort of rodent in its mouth. It was a proper 'nature bath.'
