ANd we could well see him or Becks posting on here in a few weeks time having googled and researched and found a real fallen hero whose identy can be stolen and claim that he/she got the dates wrong. We would be none the wiser then.

I don't even care that this person will be getting one hell of a rise out of reading this if he/she is on here because in the long run, we all have real friendships and relationships as well as virtual ones and a lot of those friendships have been formed through meeting people on this forum that we enjoy so much.

The same way as a soap charater dies and the actor turns up in "Holby City" dave (Becky/Geoffry) will no doubt be doing the same somewhere else.

I personaly hope he was a fraud (the evidence I've read on here certainly makes it look like he had some 'issues') as I wouldn't like to consider the alternative & the possibility of his loved ones reading the previous 400 odd posts.

If DD was a real person and not a fraud and his loved ones read this thread, then I'm sure one of them would have registered on the forum and put us right. I know I would.

For this reason I have tried, as have most to only go on what we have by word of Becks or DD himself in old posts, ie. he was EX sbs, not currently serving hence why would he have a full military burial and why would that be said a few pages after saying it would be a private family burial? No one was KIA on that day that meets his description. Sgt. Schmid was KIA on the 31st....but it's not him as he was not ex sbs...and he was still serving.

If someone has died and the family read this, I agree, someone would put us right and I am also very confident that everybody, as they have said from the start would apologise wholeheartedly and would feel awful for any hurt caused. However.....we are justified in our concerns given the information we have been had posted by his apparent partner!

Whoever DD was, he was still a really helpful bloke and I actually liked chatting to him on the odd occasion I did.

It would be a shame, if this thread is ever proven true, that I never knew the real person I was speaking to because what he did for a living wouldn't have affected my thoughts in anyway.

I still don't know what to make of it. In any given situation you can always find evidence to prove one way or the other and things that are/were innocent can start to look iffy.

I take everyone at face value and if this is proven it will give me a wake up call...

wrong!!

you get if your family wish, a full military funeral regardless of the circumstances.

the only dif is its a lot more private as there is no repatriation service beforehand.

my Cousin died of Cancer back in 1996 whist still serving with 1 Div and got the full military funeral with flag and 21 gun salute etc.

So we still dont have anyone who claims to have met him or Becks then?

the only thing i have to add is, regarding being ex sbs does not mean he was not still serving, ie he had gone back to his unit or even a different unit after having been in the sbs.
