Went that London today. All the ticketing options for the train have changed...

Visited my favourite gentleman's shaving goods emporium in St James's (Taylor's of Old Bond Street) before walking down to Victoria Coach Station to meet me mum off the 491National Express from Great Yarmouth. Taxi to Marylebone and train back to Wycombe.

Wish me luck. I don't get to deposit her back at the Coach Station for five nights so if you all hear on the news about a man from Buckinghamshire being on the run for matricide you'll know it didn't go well...

Morning all. Grey, cold, and wet here with more rain to come apparently. I shall be getting wrapped up in the waterproofs to go for a walk with Mabel after breakfast.

Good luck with the maternal visit Trevor. I wish my parents were still alive so I could visit them.

What's everyone up to today?

We went for a walk around Coombe Hill today. It has a huge memorial to the Boer War at the top and some amazing views over the Vale of Aylesbury, Chequers (as in the PM's weekender) and Oxfordshire as it's right on the edge of The Chilterns. Bit misty today so didn't take any pics. The Ridgeway passes across a corner of it too.

It also has England's oldest surviving Geocache, so I bagged that while we were there.

Wet and miserable here. Typical bank holiday weather. Took the grandkids to Park Hall farm which is partly undercover.

Cracking 11¼ wet weather hike in the hills here with Mabel (who is now at her ease on the sofa!). The nice new Alpkit jacket kept me dry, the Grisport Pyke boots partly kept my feet dry. I did wade up a stream in them though so I can't expect miracles! Sitting here with a cuppa now, with that very pleasant weary legs feeling.

I'm doing a longer one next week Craig. I'm going over to daughter Sioned's place near Druids Heath. We're walking from there to Redditch, about 16 miles. We'll then get the train back from Redditch to Kings Norton, have a bite to eat there and then walk the 4 miles back to her house. Should be good fun and I'm hoping for good weather.

Had walking boots over 50 years, some ridiculously expensive but the most comfortable have been the present Grisport ones and they are as waterproof as any others I have owned. So impressed I was I bought a pair of their leather walking shoes and a pair of the lighter leisure shoes. They all appear well made and a bargain.
