Dirk have you looked at getting the bike in a container from Vladivostok to Anchorage? If you go, I think the term is, "groupage", you share a container and of course its cheaper. You just hop on as a passenger. Most vessels handling containers have provision for some passengers.

Only two years on a bike as well...niceone!
It's my only major life ambition to do a round the world trip on a bike...and take my sweet time doing it, i'd hate to have to travel to deadlines...
