After my CBT I borrowed a 125 for a couple of months to practice on before doing my DAS - but to be honest I wonder if I just picked up some bad habits that had to be sorted out! I think if I were doing it now Id do it all in one go. hth

Go do the DAS course, you'll love it!
For how many days?!
I know a few people who've been complete novices; thenhave done a CBT and less than 8 hours lessons before passing the DAS

I did on my CBT - after failing to kickstart about 10 times I fell over with the bike in an exhausted heap and cried...the instructor picked the bike up for me and pointed out that it helps if you turn the ignition on

you don't have to be blonde to have a blonde moment

amazingly i managed to do my das without bursting into tears, but i came pretty close at times! i did manage to perfect stamping my feet in frustration whilst sat on a bike though

I have my CBT booked in for 5th April at Ridesure in Dunsfold!
Hopefully i'll do ok ( )and then i'll decide whether to do the DAS or ride a 125 for a while...i'm getting pretty excited now!!

Thanks to Sarah and Stu for recommending Ridesure looks like a pretty good training centre. I'll keep you posted with my progress!

Dont get the chinese bikes, they fall apart quicker than crumbly cheese
YBR125s are made in China.

Even if you keep the little bike for 6 months I would do it.

Just my opinion.
I'd agree with this option, get some road sense and build your skills on a nice easy to ride 125 for a while before going on to do further training and tests. You'll be a better rider for it.

As for bikes, at your height there's only really the option of a Honda CG125 or a Yamaha SR125. I'd go for the CG every day of the week, they are absolutely indestructible and cost peanuts to run. If you buy a used cheapish one you won't lose money on it, because their values hit a level and stay there forever.
