![]() TBH an SV with decent suspension and better brakes would be a very nice bike. The chassis is more than upto it imo. ![]() |

To address the OP's question 'will I like an SS600', the answer, unless you're adverse to fun, would have to be yes.
It is true that to unleash the potential of the bike, you'll always be over the NSL. As in, to get in to the meat of the power, in any gear, you're doing over 70 in first gear and then upwards of 100 once you start clicking up. My K7 Gixxer 6 is 'revvy' but I am someone who is happy pootling around at 5-8k rpm and I don't feel I always need to be redlining it. Yes, it's fun when I open the taps and get there but I don't feel I need to do it all the time. Probably why I have nil points on my licence (touches wood ![]() If you think you want things a little less 'buzzy' the obvious answer is a 750, but in my opinion this could only encourage you to go even faster than on a 600, but it depends on how you like to ride. If you just want the incredible handling, acceleration and brakes of a SS bike, you'll be fine with a 600. To do it a little faster, get a 750. I'm not a speed demon, I just like to go round corners fast with margin for error, and I feel my gixxer gives me a bigger margin for error than my SV did. I'm happy to admit that it is better than I will ever be but my riding has come on a lot since getting the gixxer. And I ENJOY it more, which is the main thing at the end of the day. If you can, get a test ride on a proper SS600, because I think it will be quite different to the Fazer you tried. The Fazer is to the R6 what the GSR600 is to the GSX-R600; and from what I've read they're quite different. ![]() Cheers, Matt |

Phew, thank you all. Think i'm sold on the 600 then. Was worried that it'd 'feel' too gutless after the twin but reading all these posts i'm pretty much assured that this wouldnt be the case. Test rides on the 600's it is then!
Gixxer or ZX6 though? Hmmmmmm. I've actually tried to get hold of a Silver/White Gixxer 6 to have a good look at over the past couple of weeks but all my local dealer enquiries have drawn a blank, black or blue/white only. Looks like theres none for sale round Cheshire ![]() |

Why limiting to only those two? Why not a CBR600RR or Daytona 675 or Yamaha R6?
Having said that, (and this isn't cos I'm biased!) the Gixxer is supposed to be all round 'best' compromise for a road-going sportsbike. In terms of comfort, mid-range, balanced (not too hard or soft) suspension. And along with the ZX-6R's they're generally the cheapest if buying new. I think the Yam R6's look stunning but they're a bit too 'focussed' for my needs. I would love to try a 675 but they're about the same price as a new GSX-R750 so I'd rather have one of those over the 675. Choosing a new bike is a hard, but fun decision! |

R6 - All the reviews have it as the worst for the road, very track focussed and the revviest riding the R6 engined Fazer put me off the engine. Looks sweet though. 675 - nearly bought one of these when the 0% offer started, went up the dealer and had a play, liked it very much. Still a maybe that one. Just fell for the silver/white gixxer on looks, love it. |

I have a 2007 ZX6R, same as Neio. It's a great bike, I really enjoy riding it.
I would say get one of these bad boys: ![]() (a 2004 one.) It's still better looking than the current model and it's the 636, so you have a bit extra where the 599's "lack" torque at lower revs. Having bought a new bike once, I won't be doing that again (until I'm a squillionaire at least). Having a new bike is great, don't get me wrong, but it detracts from the enjoyment of actually riding it. Like you're too scared to scratch it and therefore never really get on it and go for the riding fun. |
