second op went fine, and had the results on weds. fortunately the lymph nodes show that the cancer hasn't spread beyond the breast, unfortunately despite removing a large (~2" across) amount of tissue they still haven't found the extents of the cancerous cells, so it's back into hospital on the 11th for a mastectomy+reconstruction, followed by chemo

Its obviously bad that she has to have yet more surgery to remove tissue, but the huge thing here is that the lymph nodes were clear. Primary cancer rarely kills anyone, it is secondary metastases that do the damage. I have my fingers crossed for your mum and of course everyone else mentioned in this thread.

yeah, re-reading the post sounds like i'm still on the downer but tbh i'm far happier to have a third op and an effective "all clear" than not knowing where or when the thing could spring up again, the worry is the effect it's going to have on her, as i know she was dreading the mastectomy as an option, but we'll get through it...

of course the whole situation isn't helped by the good for nothing **** of a soon-to-be ex-husband coming round on the same afternoon she got the news to say that as he's managed to rack up an additional 30 grand's worth of debt in the 2 years he's not been living here he now wants £50,000 out of a divorce, despite treating my mum like a cash machine for 10 years and never contributing a penny beyond the cost of his food, and treating the whole family like crap

Just an update for you all......

My mum had the lump taken from her toe yesterday afternoon she has been signed off for a least two weeks as she can't drive or put pressure on her toe.

The doctors are going to test the outside of what they removed to see if the cancer is in the outer cells if it isn't they said they have removed enough and will decided on the next step/ course of treatment...... if the cancer is in the outer cells they will have her back in the remove more from her toe.

Hope everything works out for your mum Lily, Im sure she,ll fine, keep your chin up.
