What a difference 2 days make.....

Being not raining torrentially took the Money Pit over to my parents at the weekend and with the help of my dad (Who still doesn't trust me with a bearing and a drift), their freezer, his lathe, a large chunk of oak & a blow torch........

Replaced front wheel bearings (Yuk! seriously knackered), Steering head bearings with tapered Rollers (YUK!! seriously knackered) & the front forks for the set I picked up on the way to the TV swimming night.

(The large chunk of oak got turned in to a thing to install stearing head bearings & the blow torch re-energised the sealing washers for the front brake banjo hose thing - which had to be dimantled in order to remove yokes (yawn) & I couldn't buy replacements for...)

1) Low point: Brake fluid and cut thumbs do not mix well.

2) High point: The test ride after.....

Next stop Air/fuel issues - In the very short stretch of tarmac I had it seems it no longer redlines higher gears now airbox fitted - guessing it's lack of air - although as the airbox currently only has 1/2 the number if screws it needs I think I prob need to fix this before venturing further....

Oh and the fuel pump cut off thing still needs investigation.

La la la la la la

The "Fuel pump switch" is now just a distant memory that therapy will erase. Would have been easier if whoever fixed it last hadn't cut the original connectors off at the loom but a little light surgery has that sorted.

Unfortunately easy starting is also a distant memory as my "Prime the carbs" button is no more. Wouldn't matter so much if the soddin things didn't periodically empty themselves when left on the side stand.

Oy vey - something else on the to do list....

Tempting to get someone else to give em a clean & replace float bowl & Pilot screw seals & balance em at the same time.
Practicalities suggest I ought to be able to peer at 'em and do the seals myself and forget the balancing...

Laziness dictates that I ignore it for a while and see what happens...

Latest messin before its 2nd trackday incurred minor casualty.....

Posted in the lydden thread so for continuity (and cos it looked mildly impressive at the time......)

Still now sporting better bled brakes, non blowing exhaust silencer (finally got around to fitting a gasket) & more rubber mat pattented weatherproofing....

Much swearing no doubt.

I have just ordered new header nuts for the header bolts I ordered previously. Oops.

I can't believe the 4 nuts cost more than the 4 header bolts. I mean WTF
