http://www.hideout-leather.co.uk/fol...etygrip_black/ I have had A* for the past two pair and while they have both held up ok, I find the leather on the fingers get very thin and wears through. I don't mind though as my current pair is about 2 years old and are bit mingen, so a new pair is probably due |

They could well be fake, but think on. How many multi national companies are based in China or alike?? almost all of them. Look at where your leathers and kit is actually made. Probably in the factory next door. By people paid the same ammount. Chances are they are actually just as good as the 'real thing'

Thats why I wanted to know if anyone had purchased them and if the quality was any good or not.

I worked in the motorcycle clothing business for years, and those two countries are responsible for producing the vast majority of all motorcycle clothing sold worldwide. One firm I worked for had their leathers made in Pakistan, ours sold for 300 quid but were made with the same quality of materials and stiching and by the same workers as the 900 quid Dainese kit that was also produced in the same factory. None of the large clothing forms have their own factories, (EDIT - I forgot Arlen Ness, Wolf and Berick do, as part of Madif Industries in Hong Kong) no matter what they might lead you to believe, they have it made in a number of smaller places at whatever price is right. At one time one firm I know had their two piece leathers produced by two different factories, because one quoted cheaper on the trousers. When they two garments were put together there were slight colour differences and the graphics didn't quite line up. We mentioned this to the boss and he said "It's a 400 quid suit, if they want better they can pay me more". Some of these factories have their own design people, and I remember being told that one particularly stylish textile jacket we were selling was actually destined to be a Dainese garment but was rejected on cost grounds - we were selling it for under 150 quid, if Dainese had taken it on it would have been closer to 300, but they still thought that the production costs were too much. Don't kid yourself that the more expensive something is, the better it is. Most of the time it's a lottery and the only decent gear you'll find is what you've seen to work when someone else tests it by throwing it up the road. Last edited by Lozzo; 03-09-08 at 02:57 PM. |

There are a lot of people who are brand name snobs and delude themselves that just because it says Alpinestars or Danise etc etc it HAS to be better made than those other brands that cost over half less. When in reality the poor deluded fools are getting ripped off and paying over the odds for kit no better made. |
