Not read all the replies but go with the one with most features.
Things I look for: Contrast Ratio: the higher the number the better the contrast ratio (my old TV hd 3000:1, most new ones are around 15000:1). makes the difference between black and white greater giving you a nice constrasting image rather than a washed out bland image. Resolution: A lot of older screens are 1366 but I wouldn't settle for anything less than 1920x1080 (1080P) now. 1080P is the resolution to aim for these days. For those that say "You can't see the difference between 1080i and 1080P" well I'm sorry but that is a load of tosh (and you need to get to Specsavers!) ![]() Make sure it has HDMI, all future entertainment appliances will use HDMI so you may as well have it. Lots of benefits of HDMi includig built in audio into the signal, the signal is digital so it doesn't need to be decoded by the screen (unlike D-sub). Response time. The lower the better. Good feature for fast moving films and video games. Economic standby mode. A lot of older TV's used almost as much power when on standby as when they were fully operational. Make sure your uses a lot less when on standby to help reduce your elec bill. I'm no expert but the few things I look out for. |

I voted for the LG.
I have owned an LG 42" Plasma for over three years and love it. Picture quality is superb, especially with a digital source (Freeview or Sky). HD is amazing, especially sports action. When you ready to buy, try these guys as they are very good on price normally - Sound and Vision. They even have the LG you are after in stock |

I voted for the Sony. I know nothing about this subject but, as a point of principal, I always vote in polls! Just so you know.

Well I only went and bought a new flat screen on saturday. Gave up researching, popped into richer sounds (just to ask a couple of questions) and ended up walking out of there with an LG 32PG6000 (The new 32" plasma).
Used the old satellite wire (that ran around the outside of the house to the back) to run a cable straight up the outside (using some serious monkey skills as I don't own a ladder) and terminated it with an rf extension socket at the bedroom end and it plugs straight into the rf output on the Virgin media box at the other end. Looks very good when the settings are tweaked, even with everything running through an RF lead! Can't wait till it's run in so that I can tweek everything to make it look perfect! |

£550 from richer sounds with a warranty and a tilting wall mount. They price matched the second cheapest web price I found (£470) but wouldn't match the cheapest (£430) as they didn't have any in stock.
I've been reliably informed that it's the best 32" screen for SD pictures and is not far from the top for HD and all for that bargain price. The pic even looks good with the settings turned down. I did turn the settings up for a test run and the pic looked superb, I have turned the settings down again so I can run the screen in (though have received no definite answer as to whether it is required). Regards Phil |

I paid £439 for mine.
I'm impressed thats for sure. Not finished playing with all the settings yet. There are so many!! I am running mine on the cinema setting at the moment. The sound is a little disapointing, but i feel it'll be better when on the wall as most speakers are usualy loaded to fire off a cabinet/corner/wall etc. Now im on a search for a new dvd player ![]() |

Sounds quite good (for a flat screen) on the wall as it has 2 bass drivers (all be it small) pointing down and the rest of the sound is designed to resonate off the screen surround so the whole telly acts as a speaker.
