Yes Biker Billy was on the GSX-R forums too and seemed a lot of bike for the money. Darren paid £4300 and spent £600 since so seemed a great buy and much more sensible in the current financial climate.

great summary of all the bikes - i can't wait to use the power on mine now - still can't go over 8k revs till the weekend, then can get to 12k for 400 miles before going bananas !!!! good to hear the mid-range is there

btw, planning an alps trip next summer after reading it in bike magazine last month....

Mike ,

The GSX-R 600 is a brilliant bike, my ride confirmed how things have moved on in the last 8 years. The CBR was boring in comparision, but I'm sure the RR would be good.

Never done the Alps on a sports bike, but loved doing them on my GS and a KTM, so can't wait to go back. I'll have to see how much time I can get off for boys holidays this year. My wife's a steady, safe rider, but in her first year on the SV so a tad slower than me.. I may have to do 2 trips one on our SVs and another on the GSX-R.

The only fly in the ointment is there may finally be the opportunity to do an overland trip to Egypt at the end of my current contract. Had it planned out for a while, damn so much planned and so little time.

Fizz Wheel,

Darren has it advertised everywhere and to be honest I can't understand why it hasn't sold at 50% of the new bike cost its got to be great value. Luckily, I'm no registration snob so don't mind riding something thats a few years old as long as its a great ride (ask the wife LOL).

A personal thank you for pointing me to www.gixerjunkies.com, been able to glean lots of info from there.

They are a good bunch on there, you'll find a lot of ex SV riders and SV650.org members lurking about there to

Hi Darren,

Indeed a Friday night round of drinks and a curry more, but I'm sure worth every penny.

See you on the 26th

best regards

Mike, haven't a clue to be honest I'm not a GSX-R anorak (yet) but I think they did blue/white and blue/black in this model year so I took this as standard. The only limited editions I've seen whilst surfing have been TT, Relentless etc from K6 onwards.

The bike mileage is low compared to other GSX-Rs, most seem to have done around 5,000 miles a year which indicates to me that owners can't help riding them. Its a lots of bike for the money but there are plenty of other great buys out there, I think there is a 750 K7 on the forum with less than 2K miles for £5000, again another bargain. If things continue to go as they are with the enconomy I think come next January there will be some real bargains around for those who wait.
