I'd suffered from nightmares since I watched a very close mate and his girlfriend get killed on his bike in a particularly nasty collision when I was 23. Some nights I'd wake up screaming and thowing myself around the bed, other nights I'd sleepwalk talking to him. One night my ex-girlfriend woke up to find me missing from the bed and the lights on all over the house, she went downstairs thinking I'd gone for my usual wander and found the patio doors wide open and me fast asleep stark naked on the back lawn - it was middle of February and very cold if I recall correctly.
I finally put the nightmares to sleep when they changed the road system where my mate and his burd died and built a bypass and roundabout there. It suddenly dawned on me that I only got the nightmares the sleep after I drove through the junction as it was, and once that changed they went away never to return |

I always have wacky dreams, especially if I go for a nap at the weekend. A couple from my childhood still spring to mind as being odd, both beside the local canals. 1) I am running along the bank, high up through the bushes appearing like tunnels when in a clearing I notice a steam train chugging along slowly with its cargo of Nazi tanks and vehicles. As they get closer, I start to throw 2p pieces (the old large ones, pre 1971) which seem to fly accurately towards the cargon and then BOOM, they explode like grenades
2) Again by the canal, walking along the kerbstone at the waters edge and fearing I might fall into a small gap between the kerb and the water (all of 4 inches). My confidence increase and I increase to a jog when suddenly I fall. Not into the gap (although that is another dream) but straight ONTO the water. Realising I am actually walking on the water, I ventured across the canal to investigate a place not accessible by other means. Even as an adult I have some very confusing dreams/nightmares, nothing gory or sinister, just plain odd! I never seem to wake from this oddness, but do have disturbed sleep for the remainder of the night and when awake feel a little out of the ordinary. |
