I also feel that she has done something to raise public awareness of cervical cancer... she has openly urged women to have regular smear test and not to ignore them as she did. If she hadn`t ignored the abnormal results she would most likely be in remission by now.

She was brought up in a run-down part of London and her father, a drug addict, left when she was two years old. He spent four years in Wandsworth Prison for robbery. She claims she did not get the chance to go to school often, and has spoken of how she had to help out her mother, who lost the use of her left arm and the sight in one eye after a motorbike accident.

I`m not defending her or saying what she`s doing is either right or wrong... She`s angry and she`s frightened, she came from nothing and is probably obsessed with making money as she had a very poor childhood. She doesn`t want her boys to have to live the life that she did and I can understand why she`s doing this.

However rich, ugly, foul mouthed people may think she is I feel sad for those 2 young boys who are going to lose their mother and equally sad for a young woman whose life will be tragically cut short.

Excellent post.

My mum spent her six months with family-she didn't raise funds for cancer sufferers either, is that a requirement for those with cancer?

My SIL died at 36 from breat cancer, leaving 2 kids aged 7 and 5, she didn't raise money either.

Have you seen what chemotherapy does to people? It ****s you up totally, where do you get the energy required for fundraising?

The psychological impact of being given a diagnosis of cancer is so overwhelming and the emotions that somebody goes through are numerous. They are then asked to "come to terms" with this illness and to find the strength to get through the rigorous treatment ie. chemotherapy/radiotherapy. They then get told that despite having found the strength to fight it has been in vain and they are then asked to "come to terms" with the fact that they are going to die.

Where in all of the above does anyone find the time for fund raising???? I would imagine it is only the few people that tho given the unfortunate diagnosis of cancer are "lucky" (and I deliberately say lucky in inverted comma`s!!) to have a non advanced or a non aggresive type of cancer that gives them a few healthy years of life before the cancer wins its battle.

At the moment I have 15 patients on my caseload with advanced cancer and they will all die within a few months. I don`t know anyone in my years of palliative care nursing who has set out to raise money for cancer research etc. and I certainly wouldn`t expecte them to. What I have experienced tho on numerous occasions is the family`s holding events to raise funds. How do we know that Jade`s friends and family aren`t doing a similar thing?

Like Shonadoll i`m pretty certain that a big percentage of the org members have been affected by the death of a friend or family member through cancer and my condolences go out to you all.

Maybe somebody would like to start a poll to see how many people have firstly known someone who has died from cancer and secondly how many of those sufferers raised funds??? I daresay nobody would have the guts to ask something so awful of the members who have become friends/ cyberfriends. Funny tho how some people can openly condemn a woman they`ve never met for not giving her money to charity!

And if there is a poll, I lost my father to cancer. Anyone who suffers this terrible disease has my profound sympathy.

you have put into words what i was thinking... well done! I do hope that miss goody's (how appropriate or not!) children will not grow up, with or without their mother, feeling the wrath of so many peoples anger! she HAS NOT in anyway harmed anyone of us, bar one as far as i can see. who are we to judge? - she made her name in the papers becos people like you and me... bought those papers... and posted posts like this.. so her "infamousness" is down to joe soap and the likes.... ! do u honestly think, were u in her shoes, being famous for being famous, you'd not cash in on it for the benefit of your children?? at the end of the day... be she a millionaire or not.. it does not take away she is ill, probably not around for much longer, and everything happens for a reason... she is "famous" enough that should she pass on, "the jade goody" cervical cancer trust may just be started...

We, that have not walked in her shoes, but lived her life thru the eyes of the media, should not pass judgement.

I hope my comments didnt come across as anger towards miss goody! i wish her no harm at all, my main grip if you could call it that is that i feel that her being in the public eye is not justified i,e she hasnt earnt it therefore i dont realy want to see her on programs or the news, i have always maintained this opinion from the day she was on big brother, maybe this wasnt the place to air my opinion of this, as others have said no one deserves what she is going through and she has my sympathy for that. I hope i have kind of explained what i meant... if she could set up some kind of cervical cancer trust and help some people that would be very worthwhile..

All though a party agree with this statement, there is a slighty positive side to her going through it on tv, and that is now poeple can actully see what epople go through when they have cancer, something that people may not know or understand. Im not a huge fan of Jade but wouldnt wish it on anybody!

no not at all, i most certainly dont expect everyone to raise funds. however ms. goody is in a position where she certainly can do some good for the benefit of everyone while she still has the energy.
sincere apologies if i offended you in anyway. sorry.
