Ah, i see. But that requires more moving parts right? I can see the advantage of cooling the oil though as its gonna be further from the heat source.

Mark, where is the oil resovior on the CCM?

in the DRZ it's in the frame, the CCM is basically the same bike so probably the same place, dipstick is next to the headstock

In racing cars with Dry Sumps you have to be very careful when leaving gravel traps as a stone caught in the oil pump belt would leave you with no oil circulation, and, quite quickly, no engine

Wet sumps in cars (and bikes I'd guess) are more idiot proof, it's only when you get to the level of M5's and the like that can hold sustained acceleration or cornering G that you need to be aware of oil starvation in a car.

The DRZ engine is a double eccentric cam crank driven type , one being the circulation pump the other a scavenger one.

Well had to stop as I was awaiting the rotor puller (ordered yesterday morning),Not one to waste time yesterday afternoon I recovered the seat

well guess what turned up 3 o'clock this afternoon...........yeah

got the rotor off without any problem

splitting the cases was somewhat more of a task

slowly it comes apart.

done it

the crank out

smallend stuck solid, piston locked to counter weights

down to the shed for some extra force from the vice.
got part way with this setup,

then need special tool one

moddified to special tool two

bingo

more play in the bigend than a teenager with a new PS3.

so need a new crank.

Cheers Mark.
