Im still a bit dubious about that. When i was getting quotes fo my bike, my current insurer was in the list as the second cheapest. When i got my renewal, it was £3 more than the comparrison site, which they matched. So i dont think thats true.

they ask different questions, when you go via the comparison site they're a lot more vague. That could be something to do with it.

I had the mis-fortune to meet an AA man a couple of weekends ago when out in the GF's cage (nearside drive shaft)... he told me about a product they do that pays upto £500 towards the repair costs following a call attended by the AA.
I'm not sure if it extends to bikes, although I don't see why not - it's an insurance policy after all - and obviously you have to be an AA member, but it's not too pricey if you consider that after one claim you've probably recovered your costs. Might be worth a call.... http://www.theaa.com/breakdowncover/brc_info.html |

I've done alright with a quote found on tesco compare.
I would never bother with full comp on an SV. No point claiming for theft either. E.g £1000 bike, £200 excess. £800 payout ... and your next 4 years premiums cost you an extra £1000. Pointless claiming.

I used tesco compare because it turned out cheaper than bikesure or whatever the other comparison one is
![]() As everyone else said, fully comp is relatively useless, especially if you have a forum like this where you can pick up stuff relatively cheap. Fixing an SV is **** easy aswell if you're talking about bodywork an' stuff. Hope you get the right deal! |

I was a bit narrow minded with my previous post and didn't really think about second hand bikes for some reason! I forked out for fully comp simply because it's new and the write off value is high.
If i had bought a bike for £2k or less i definitely would have gone tpft. |
