I suppose if you have tackled those sort of roads and not come to any harm it makes you look like some sort of hardcore nutter

Hey, I've enjoyed riding on this one a couple of times, although last time was taxing, but still much fun......must be a hardcore nutter then

In places, but to actually make reasonable progress on such roads requires far more concentration than on some sweeping A road. Making it far more rewarding even if you are mostly in the first 3 gears. The gravel is just something else to think about, you get used to it kicking about a bit after a while.

You is so wrong, you just need to see the smile on the faces of anyone who has just done Wrynose and Hardknott. Although the smile might be relief to have survived or possibly embarrassment about the offensive odour leaking out of their pants.

One tip, have decent brakes and do not touch your front disk to see just how hot it got (ouch, burny burny).

Come on though chaps, who has the video of Hovis popping on the way up

quick search has found these classics

Using them to light a cigarette is always an option though, if you're been trying hard enough

I have got to go over Kirkstone pass on the bike this year. It's been too long and I love that road
