So did mine, had to resign from my Old Company and Join my new one which are owned by the same people so lost 31 years service. (but got £10K more for the same job). Before you hand in your notice make sure you have the contract for the new job in your hand. I have known people get a new job, hand their notice in and have the new job offer taken back as the company restructured.
