ok i have just returned from a 180 mile ride on some of the best roads the north has to offer, only for it to be marred by useless tossers who's only capability is to straight line every corner cos the cannot lean their (shiny pimped up rides) even though they only do 1200 miles in a year and have the worlds grippiest rubber on their bikes

now dont get me wrong I WILL straight line certain corners ( as long as i can see far enough ahead or the road surface demands avoiding action) BUT for the most part i keep well left as i have experienced this far to many times.

on no less than 20 or more occasions today I with my son on the back have had to take avoiding action because some freaking wannabe Rossi has been 3/4 into our side of the road

i saw no less that 7 accidents 4 of which were wrong side of road into dykes 2 into other vehicles on wrong side and one just plain to fast and straight on.

I do not class myself as the best rider of all time but i say i have some experience evolved from many years of motorcycling.

and don't even get me started on the gixxer 1000 brigade (180 in a straight line and 20 round any corner) sheesh is it me or do you lot experience this ??

I take it you we're out in cumbria on Sunday then? Loads of em eh, I was going to go up Hartside instead of going home from Keswick, Coming out of the bike park there was a group of about 12 of them doing about 3mph and taking about an hour to pull out of the junction because they paddled out into the road instead of riding, I had no choice but to scream past them and pull out of the junction from the wrong side of the road, Great Maybe a few of em wont be on their bikes for a few weeks at least while there waiting for parts.

I ride to my abilty and if that ****es some one off behind me then so be it .. my concern is the traffic in front .. i ride fast AND am getting better in the corners but in not there yet and i would appreciate a little loyality from the biking fraternity to know that im still learning and dont want to show off just in case ...

well ok an off due a mistake on their part, because that would mean they were carp riders and has been said they should be restricted to 400cc, and they would automatically be classed as fair weather riders like the gixxer in the pub wall that has been mentioned, and no i havent had one yet, touch wood.
ps i knew i was playing devils advocate when i wrote my first post, but not everybody rides to work, i don't think they make top boxes big enough to carry the stuff i need for work, wish they did then i could leave for work a bit later and get home earlier lol.

Again, that's not the complaint at all.
Slow riders, fine. Fast riders who know what they're doing, fine.

The problem is riders who cut corners blindly and ride on luck, that's just being a pr1ck whether you're slow, fast or dead.

The problem with the stereotypical power rangers is going hell for leather on the straights, meaning you can't get past them and get held up whenever there's a mild bend in the road...

Loyalty works both ways, if someone appears behind you, they're obviously quicker than you because they've caught up, so be polite and let them by.

Interesting thread.

Pete and I are weekend warriors. We only use the bike at weekends, but we certainly ride all year round, so what little pigeonhole do we fit into?

Just because someone uses their bike every day it doesn't automatically make them a good rider.

No if your slow then fair enough your slow. But if you were slow in the corners came screaming past me then slowed me down in the bends then I wont be too happy.

Riding slowly is fine, it's the people who go round corners like poofs then hammer it on the straights who are annoying, as you can't get past them without doing something silly.

Same attitude prevails on rideouts, all the ones round here have had a very chilled attitude towards anyone who wants to bimble and relax.

I wont go on rideouts for my fear of holding people up and tothers slagging off my riding. I am nervous enough and I have heard people critise others.

I remember going pillion with Kwak on Marches Meander, there was a Gixer group who hooned past us on the straights, we went round a corner and it had a pub on it and there was a Gixer nose into the wall, just stopped in time LOL. Suppose I will never do that ha ha ha

Maybe... but then if they are bad riders to the extreme that we are talking here they wont last too long tbh. Overtaking in stupid places, going round corners on the wrong side of the road when they cant possibly see etc etc...
