There are always ways to explain what happened in an event.

I showed two ways in my previous post that explains how the same incident could have been written, and the two ways that they might have have different impacts on the reader.

I have already apologised if this my interpretation is inaccurate.
fair do's, but english was never my strongest subject...and it certainly wasn't intended to be a bragging post. Situations like these is one of the main reasons i dont touch alcohol, and like i wrote in a later post, it could have been worse - luckily it wasn't!

If i can break up a fight before having to act i would gladly take that option, but in this case that wasn't possible i guess!

I read it as - his mate stupidly started a fight with the wrong people but was outnumbered, so OP and his mates waded into help. I'm not condoning violence, but I'm sure most people would do the same...wouldn't they? or would they just stand by? Now there's another subject for discussion altogether

Whoo! That's exactly what I was trying to convey. Good to see some people can see the whole story from start to finish instead of nit picking a line or two and immediately thinkng that I'm here to brag about a fight!

I suppose the moral is, don't go out with mates who lose all sense when they get p1ssed, and avoid town centres full of drunks!

PS I hope you got yourself medically checked out if you got knocked out?

Everyone's a critic! (that's an observation btw- this is the internet, after all!!)

Glad you didin't come out of it any worse! A big lesson for your mate then!

A drummer in my old band got p!ssed up once and decided to start on the bouncers at a local nightclub (Volts). Swiftly earned himself a moderate kicking. Some people...! I think, at the next rehearsal when we heard the story, we all just said "you idiot!" in that affectionate way that mates do!

yeep think ive learnt that one. not easy to replicate a situation, and even if you do a lot of people dont seem to wanna hear about it...Almost as if all people who have ever got into fights are all stupid!

Anyways, starting fights is definetely stupid/risky/pointless etc - no ones gonna deny that!

yeh i just tell em face to face about it and if they dont like what i have to say then we can always just have a fight over it

FWIW i think you did what any of us would do and that was try to save your mate getting a serious kicking...weather he deserved it or not is a different matter.

i ran into a crowd of guys once, bellowing at the top of my voice "alright, enough...let me give this ( insert many racist expletives) a proper kicking outside", reached into the crowd and dragged the guy up by his hair and out thru the front door with a large baying mob following us out.

Stood him up straight, looked him in the eye and screamed "RUN Charlie, RUUUUUUNNNNNN!!!!" as i dragged him off up the road with me.
We hid in a shop's metal wheelie bin round the next corner, it stank and Charlie bled on me a lot but i got him out of a jam. I only knew Charlie by face and name cos he was a friends older brother but a pub full of hooligans on one person aint exactly a fair fight is it?

And the 7 stitches i got in my lip was cos i stood up to some bloke who was gonna hit a girl and i told him that if he was that hard as to beat up a girl then maybe he should try me out for size.
1 punch later, there i am on the floor needing stitches Ah well, again, at least i did the right thing by her.
