Not making definitive comment either way, but berlin found those tyres to wear very rapidly towards end.

You just need to remember that it's a 580 mile round trip there and back from Brighouse. Then on the Saturday you'll probably do 250 miles, and on the Sunday if you join in another rideout, probably another 150. So min 1000 miles in the weekend, that's 1/4 of the life of a sports touring tyre, and could be as much as 1/2 the life of a sports tyre. The majority of those miles will be motorway squaring the tyres off in the centre, unless like I normally do, you take a 10 hour cross country route.

Good points made by both YC and Ralph.

What I would love to do is use my current tyres to get up to Glasgae and then have some new tyres put on, but that ain't gonna happen, so we'll be running up and squaring off new rubber . Might get a chance to re-profile them once we head onto the fun roads though

There's enough local knowledge in the SV Ecosse section to make that a reality Pete.

JamesMio or Miky Bar Kid could probably recommend a tyre place in the borders around Carlisle somewhere where and you could get tyres ordered and bike booked in for 4:30pm on the Friday, leave there by 5:30 and I'll plan you a twisty route to Inverarnan that will have your tyres scrubbed in by the time you get to the campsite before 8pm. You'd need to leave Rugby at lunchtime.
