^ or thers a just as good answer, create a cmd command line at home add to memory stick that sets up a admin accound and there you go sorted well works for the lads at colage ,i run linux from memory stick with a ip scrambler so they dont know what pc im on thats what i use but almost all of the IT tech students have gotten around the web filters and admin restrictions.

one or two of u even managed to get so far into the system we could change peoples paswords but that got locked down verry fast in deed

its all good fun, get some good tips of my tutor as well as he has vast knowlage from the army (he was in intel bit)

I do think your employer has a certain degree of right to dictate what you do whilst they are paying you... however most employers, mine included, do make provision for you to access outside networks during breaks etc if that's what you want to do.
No one likes to be monitored and it's a shame it has to happen, but it is nice when you can get one over the monitors though. I spent the best part of several hours on the Gumball website recently and received a call from the head of the thought police who promptly launched into a lecture about how I shouldn't be browsing private matters on job computers, how he was going to let me off with "advice" this time, but he woudl be watching me in future. I let him dig himself in really deep then asked him if he was aware of my job description and had it occurred to him that perhaps if he investigated a little and actually asked some questions instead of relying on his box of tricks to do everything for him he might get a better idea of what his employees are up to. Strangely enough I haven't heard from him since... My point is that if your line manager needs to rely on monitoring your on-line activity to see if you're doing any work perhaps they ought to examine their supervision style?

unless you have admin rights, you can't create an admin account. Won't work.

Ip scrambler? Those normally just route through an internet proxy (or several). This only protects against the destination knowing who you are. Anyone on the local network can still see the traffic to the proxy - and it probably even goes through the local proxy so your network usage can still be tracked.

I'd strongly advise against using technology you don't understand.

I caught a lad doing exactly that last week, revenge is sweet. Currently deciding whether to prosecute.

Ophics advice is best, your easily found.

Anything that breaches your employers IT Useage Policy will cause you problems, punishment will vary depending on what you are caught doing.

Browsing the .org, probably just a talking to, downloading Copyrighted material, well as its the COMPANY, and not the individual that is held responsible for what happens on/from its network, you can imagine that the harsh penalties that they would receive would be passed down to you, probably be classed as Gross Misconduct and get you lobbed out the door...

There is no requirement for your employer to give you access beyond that which you need to do your job, any useage for personal purposes is granted as a privilege and as such can be revoked.

Thats it, plain and simple.
