Places mean nothing to me, but it looks suitably wiggly from the 10mile to the inch scale

Only bit that doesn't look as enticing is the stretch down the A6 from Penrith, but I'm sure theres a reason for choosing that way.

at the larl ratty we can stop just before the accent of Hardknott for a brew and Jam & cream scone.

I think last year YC recce'd Hardknot but there was rather a lot of snow there, and wasn't the best idea to go up there.
I know we went via Coniston. Isn't Kirkstone the one with the slate mine on it? If so we defo did that one.

this route is only a first attempt, if it is snowy up there then the passes will be out.

Yes Kirkstone is the slatemine road, it goes right past brothers water where we stopped at the North v South in 2007.

Thanks Hun....

be interesting on the Duke up there I do hope the passes aren't snowed under.

I'm considering a run passed Wrexham on the way up as a friend moved there a few years back, but I can't find the address or phone number at present, that'd be handy, anyway I'll make some sort of plan nearer the time.

when do folks book the backpackers then ?

Cheers Mark.
